In 2016 the NHS Foundation Trust County Durham and Darlington conducted a case study in which they studied and documented the effects of implementing an automated Endoscope testing system. 

Among other things, this study found that a €100.000 was wasted on OR time alone due to bad endoscopes entering the operating theatre.
